What Alloggiati Web is

Every host in Italy must report their guests to the national police before each stay begins. The portal for this is called Alloggiati Web, operated by the Polizia di Stato. The obligation comes from Article 109 of the TULPS, the Testo Unico delle Leggi di Pubblica Sicurezza. It applies across the entire country, regardless of whether your municipality also collects tourist tax.

Who has to use it

If you rent out a property in Italy to paying guests, you are required to register those guests through Alloggiati Web. This applies to private hosts, B&B operators, and property managers alike. There are no exemptions based on the number of properties you own or the platform you use to accept bookings.

Airbnb collects tourist tax on your behalf in many Italian cities. Alloggiati Web registration is not part of that arrangement. You are responsible for it yourself, regardless of which platform your guests book through.

What data you must submit

For each guest, you must submit: name, surname, date of birth, place of birth, nationality, document type, and document number. This information must be entered for every adult in the booking, not just the lead guest.

The submission must be complete and accurate. Partial or approximate entries do not satisfy the legal requirement.

When you must submit

The deadline is 24 hours after check-in. If the guest checks in after 18:00, the submission must be completed before midnight of that same day.

This is a hard deadline. There is no grace period and no mechanism to submit retroactively without risk.

What happens if you miss it

Non-compliance with Alloggiati Web is a criminal matter, not just an administrative one. Article 109 of the TULPS sets out the legal framework, and fines are the minimum consequence. In serious or repeated cases, criminal liability applies.

The law treats late or missing submissions as a failure to fulfil a public security obligation. Italian authorities have become more active in enforcement in recent years, particularly in cities with high volumes of short-term rentals.
