Trippz for booking platforms Every tourist tax, one API
Over 40,000 municipalities in Europe alone apply a tourist tax.
The only route to true compliance is through automation.
The tourist tax data solution powering the largest booking platforms in the world
One API. All rates.
Send a property address. Get back the applicable rate.
The costs of not automating this
What manual handling costs in headcount and in fines, depending on where you operate.
We know of situations where two to three people are managing 100,000 properties manually. Imagine the cost associated with just doing that.
French law allows fines up to €2,500 per stay, with a €750 minimum, and the Faritas filing system gives municipalities the data to see which platforms are declaring.
In the UK, the CMA fined a company £4.2 million over a mandatory £3 booking fee shown too late. They can fine up to 10% of annual turnover without going to court first.
Manual versus Automated
Same responsibilities either way. What changes is who’s still tracking them a year from now.
Three steps to a rate in production
-
STEP 1
Send in your properties for rate determination
Each property is mapped to the correct (tax) jurisdictions. Our tax engine adds the applicable rates for each of your properties. The data is stored in your own highly optimised data mart, for lightning-fast response times and industry security standards.
-
STEP 2
Calculate tax on each booking
With all rates now available for each of your properties, just pass us your booking data and we will return full tax quote of the booking for all applicable taxes within milliseconds. -
STEP 3
Never miss a new rate
By listening to a webhook, you’ll be notified if any of your properties is exposed to rate changes in the applicable jurisdiction. Never be out of sync with the latest rates.
Where this works today
We constantly monitor developments and the introduction of new tourist taxes in more than 70 countries

We can also file and pay
Filing and remittance handled end to end, taking the burden out of your team’s hands.
Compliance reports are generated from actual booking data and submitted to the authority that requires them. No file building on your side.
Payments go to the municipal or national body, or to a local accountant where that is how a market works, on the deadline that applies.
When an authority comes back with a question, first and second line contact runs through Trippz. You talk to the people who maintain the data directly, wherever you already work.

-
Do you cover the United States?
Not yet, but it's coming. Trippz already covers 70+ countries worldwide, with Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, the Philippines, and several African markets alongside our European core. The US is next: we're actively expanding into it, with the ambition of full global coverage within two years.
-
Should we build this ourselves?
You can, but rates are set locally and change without warning across every jurisdiction you operate in. Someone on your team has to track those changes and keep your logic current, indefinitely. The LocationTax API gives you a maintained rate engine instead: send a location, get the current rate back, and let Trippz carry the maintenance.
-
How does pricing work?
The LocationTax API is priced per connected property. If you're running your own tax engine and want the underlying dataset instead, the Tax Content API is available on custom pricing. Either way, cost scales with your footprint, not your booking volume.
-
Is it priced per property or per country?
Per connected property. One price covers every country Trippz supports, so expanding into a new market doesn't change what you pay.
-
Who carries the tourist tax liability, us or the host?
That depends on your business model, but if you sell the stay directly to the guest, the compliance obligation often sits with you as the seller of record. Trippz doesn't take on that liability. What it does is make sure the rate behind every calculation is correct, so the amount you collect and remit is right in the first place.
-
Where is our data hosted?
Inside the European Union. Trippz is SOC 1 Type 2 and SOC 2 Type 2 certified and GDPR compliant.
-
How quickly do rate changes reach us?
Monthly pushes as standard, plus a changes endpoint you can poll on your own schedule.
