What is SIBA and SEF?

SIBA, the Sistema de Informação de Boletins de Alojamento, is the system Portugal uses for accommodation providers to register foreign guests. It is managed by the Serviço de Estrangeiros e Fronteiras. Under Law 23/2007, Article 15, accommodation providers must report the presence of foreign guests within three working days of arrival.

Security and privacy for your guest data

• Secure handling of guest data

  Guest and booking data are stored in Trippz using encrypted connections and secure storage. Trippz is SOC 1 Type 2 and SOC 2 Type 2 certified, and only the data required for SEF reporting and tourist tax is sent to external systems. You can always see what was sent and when.

• EU hosting and GDPR compliance

  Trippz is based in the Netherlands and runs on EU cloud servers, so stored data stays within the EU. We work according to GDPR requirements, so guest data is handled under European privacy rules.

Frequently Asked Questions about SEF and SIBA

• Is Trippz the same as SEF?

  No. SEF is the Portuguese government service responsible for immigration and borders. SIBA is the system it operates for accommodation bulletins. Trippz is private software that prepares and submits your bulletins to SIBA for you. Your legal obligation to register guests stays the same, the work to do it becomes smaller.

  
  

• Do I still need my own SEF account and credentials?

  Yes. You request and manage your SEF account with the authority as usual. In Trippz you enter those credentials once so bulletins can be submitted automatically in the format the system expects.

• What is the deadline for reporting guests in Portugal?

  Portuguese law requires accommodation providers to report foreign guests within three working days of arrival. Trippz submits within this deadline automatically for every booking.

• How much does Trippz cost for SEF reporting and tourist tax?

  Trippz for Hosts is free to use. You only pay for extra services. The SEF and SIBA connection costs €4.00 per accommodation per month. • Is it allowed to use Trippz for SEF and SIBA submissions?

  Yes. Trippz uses your own SEF credentials and submits the required data in the structure SIBA expects. You remain responsible for meeting the legal requirements, but the manual work of logging in and entering data for each stay is handled by Trippz.
