Trippz named one of the fastest-growing startups in France and Benelux
Trippz is number 20 on the Sifted 100: France & Benelux 2026, the ranking of the 100 fastest-growing startups in the region over the past three financial years. The ranking is based on two-year revenue CAGR, where Trippz recorded 198.59%. You can read the full list on the Sifted website.
The list is dominated by AI labs, robotics companies and cybersecurity firms. Trippz is the company on it building software for tourist tax. That is worth a moment of explanation, because tourist tax compliance is a larger and more difficult problem than most people realise.
What tourist tax compliance actually involves
Tourist tax, also called toeristenbelasting, Kurtaxe, taxe de séjour or tassa di soggiorno depending on where you are, is a levy charged on overnight stays. It exists in 40+ countries and is set not at the national level but by individual municipalities. A single country can contain thousands of distinct rates, exemption rules, filing formats and deadlines.
Guest registration is a separate but related obligation. Many countries require accommodation providers to report guest details to a national or regional authority. Italy uses Alloggiati Web. Spain uses SES Hospedajes. Each system has its own format, its own legal basis and its own consequences for getting it wrong.
The result is a compliance landscape that is fragmented, ambiguous and constantly changing. Rules differ between neighbouring towns. Definitions shift. A rate that was correct last season may not be correct now. For anyone responsible for staying compliant across more than one location, the manual workload is significant and the risk of error is real.
Why this is hard to do well
The hard part is depth. Getting tourist tax right means knowing, accurately and currently, what the rules are in every municipality you operate in, and keeping that knowledge up to date as the rules change.
That knowledge is slow to build and hard to replicate. It comes from reading regulations in multiple languages, contacting authorities directly, and correcting mistakes over years until the picture is complete. Tourist tax has historically been under-served precisely because it is niche. There is no widely recognised profession of tourist tax specialist. Trippz built one.
As Trippz CEO Ingmar Lambregts put it in the Sifted interview, outside the French government it is likely a few people at Trippz who are the most knowledgeable on French tourist tax in the world. That depth, multiplied across 40+ countries, is what the company has spent since 2020 building.
Who Trippz serves
Trippz applies this expertise across three audiences, each through a different product.
Hosts and property managers use a self-serve web app to automate tourist tax collection and guest registration for their properties. Trippz calculates and collects the tax from guests and pays it out to the host, and automates guest registration through direct integrations with authority systems. You can learn more on the Trippz for Hosts page.
Booking platforms and OTAs integrate Trippz through an API to handle tourist tax and guest registration at scale across their inventory. Expedia, Booking.com and Airbnb are among the platforms working with Trippz. More detail is on the Trippz for Platforms page.
Governments and municipalities use Trippz as a SaaS platform to digitise and streamline tourist tax collection and reporting. Details are on the Trippz for Governments page.
What the Sifted ranking signals
Recognition on the Sifted 100 reflects sustained, fast revenue growth built on solving a real and persistent problem. For hosts, platforms and governments evaluating a compliance partner, it is independent confirmation that Trippz is a serious and growing company in a category it knows better than almost anyone.
Tourist tax made easy. That has been the idea from the start, and it is what got Trippz onto this list.
