Trippz now supports tourist tax compliance in Luxembourg: here’s why that matters
A fragmented system that needed clarity
Tourist tax in Luxembourg is defined at the local level, with no national coordination. With no national coordination and 102 local communes each setting their own rates and rules, hosts and platforms alike have struggled to stay compliant. In many municipalities, even finding the applicable rate or remittance method can be a challenge—information is often buried in local council documents or scattered across offline sources.
What we’ve done
That’s why we’ve done the work to fix it. At Trippz, we’ve mapped every tourist tax rule in the country. Our platform now includes:
- The current rates per commune
- Who pays (and who doesn’t)
- Local exemptions and payment thresholds
- Remittance details and deadlines All sourced directly from official local regulations: no more guesswork, no more outdated PDFs.
Who benefits
Whether you're a private host, a professional property manager, or an online travel platform, you can now use this data to ensure tourist tax compliance is accurate, automatic, and always up to date.
Why this matters
For hosts, uncertainty around the correct rate or exemption rules leads to over- or undercharging guests—both of which create friction and financial risk. For platforms like Airbnb or Booking.com, fragmented tax data means operational overhead and a higher chance of non-compliance. Trippz solves both problems by consolidating municipal rules into a structured, up-to-date system that’s easy to integrate and maintain.
How we did it
To ensure accuracy, our team reviewed dozens of local government sources, ordinances, and fee schedules—many of which weren’t published in standard formats or required manual translation and validation. We then standardized the data into our platform’s format, enabling automated calculations and easy lookups across all 102 communes.
What’s next
In the future, we also plan to integrate with Luxembourg’s national guest registration platform—Lux Héberge—to make compliance even more seamless for hosts and platforms.
